Fallenstar strode out of the leader's den, yawning and stretching his brawn muscles before surveying the clan's peaceful camp. He saw his deputy begin to hand out assignments to both young and old warriors, leaving each cat with a job to do and to finish before the day is done. The early morning sun had just begun to peek out of the horizon, its rays gleaming the cats below. Some queens were quieting their kits down before they woke everyone up. The apprentices had begun to awaken the elders that they were assigned to take care of for the day. Assured to see that everything was running smoothly, Fallenstar padded quietly down to the fresh kill pile. He spotted a fat, juicy thrush and snagged it with his claw, heartily gorging on the bodily fluids and chunky meat within. He quickly finished his meal, letting a pair of rambunctious kits play with the remaining unedibles. The gray leader padded over to his deputy, Lightswallow. He stood next to her in silence, looking off into the distance as if ignoring her. Suddenly he flashed her a look with his green eyes before walking away, choosing to go back to his den for a nap. He would do more work later.

Shockpaw | Tom | Riverclan

Shockpaw had a dream last night of him doing something. He couldn't remember what it was when he suddenly had that first ray of the sun hit upon his face. He gave a small mew of complaint before actually moving. Then he remembered that today was suppose to be the day his mentor promised to take him out to train. He looked forward to this day for the whole half month of him being an apprentice. He quickly picked himself up. Fell back onto his bedding and tried again much more calmer. He had successfully got out of the bed and started for the exist of the den.
Shockpaw padded out of his den. Walking clumsily into the clearing. He was excited for the day of training. This would be the first. At least that's what he believed. Him and his mentor has been spending this half moon exploring and doing simple things. Shockpaw was starting to feel his mentor really didn't want to do anything with him. He hated how Ashcloud ended up being his mentor. He felt that it was so lame that such a lazy out casted tom would train him. He caught the scent of his mentor and realized the tom hadn't even been up. He gave a small groan at the lameness and padded to the warrior den. The scent of Ashcloud''s pelt was strong. He padded in and clumsily tripped right toward Ashcloud's little bedding. Probably going to land on him unless Ashcloud was full awake and just didn't wanna move till now.

Ashcloud squeezed his eyes shut. He really didnt want to deal with his apprentice now. He was having such nice dreams, too. He sighed softly as he remembered one dream. His old mate, he dreamt that she hadn't been with that other tom. His ears perked up as he smelled his clumsy apprentice stumble inside the warriors den. He knew that shockpaw didn't like him, and that was fine with ashcloud. In fact, he preferred it that way. The god awful cat was far too happy for it's own good. He remembered promising to take him out, but just walking from the apprentice den to warriors was dangerous for him. He knew it was cruel of him to keep rejecting his apprentice in such a harsh manner, but he couldn't help it. Feeling his clumsy apprentice fall on his bed, he wished he could pretend to sleep more and just ignore him. Wishing it could be so, ashcloud grunted in reply to shockpaws most ungainly appearance.

Fallenstar was about to lay himself down for a nap when he saw Shockpaw and Ashcloud come out of their dens. They look so alike, he thought, yet so different! Shaking his head to rid himself of the thought. Fallenstar retained his poise and walked down to Shockpaw. He had grown a bit sine the last time the leader had seen him. Maybe it was the new muscle he was taking on during training, or it could be just a small growth spurt. Hello Shockpaw and Ashcloud, he said with true authority. What do you think you're doing? Get up you! He turned to them suddenly and fiercely. I would like to supervise some of his training today, Ashcloud, if that's alright with you. Fallenstar knew that the two cats did not get along that well, but he needed to see that they actually trained well together. Fallenstar had put them together because they had the same strengths, and he hoped that in the end, they could work together to bring out those strengths.

Smakc into th bed everything went dark for a moment. He heard a groan but didn't think anything of it. He was too busy trying to get up his mind twirling in confusion. Suddenly he heard a voice behind him that made him jump and run hide behind the ebd. For someone clumsy it was pretty fast. When he realized with a quickened heart who it was he slowly removed form his hiding place. He looked at the large scary to in front of him. He stayed away form the leader on purpose. Or was it the other way around? He was considered embarrassing for the clan.. He was scared of live fish, bugs, birds, noises, and well everything.. He wondered if he was a coward. As soon as the leader mentioned training him. Shockpaw felt his whole bdoy quiver with excitment. He had forgot they had no training almost. "Seriously?! You mean it Fallenstar! Oh please! Ashcloud come on let's show him everything! I'll prove to you I can do this!"
He was jumping up and down with so much energy it seemed he forogt he was clumsy. Well until his paw fell on a branch which rolled making hi roll with it. He ended up falling to the ground in a flip and the landing was a roll toward the leader. Probably going to make impact.. But hey I'm not physic.[/blockquote]

Ashcloud twitched. He got up grudgingly, he really wasn't proud of his apprentice enough to brag to his leader. His apprentice was so clumsy, he had some doubts of him being a decent warrior. He resolved to talk to Fallenstar after the examination. Settling onto his feet, Ashcloud nodded to Fallenstar. Half-glaring at his apprentice, Ashcloud agreed with him, quite possibly for the first time in his life. "Yes. We shall train soon. Go feed yourself and prepare. We will leave--" Before Ashcloud could finish, however, his clumsy apprentice flipped head over heels, aimed straight for Fallenstar. His eyes widening as Shockpaw progressed towards their leader.

Fallenstar eyes flashed a look of irritation and embarrassmnt as the young apprentice rolled head over heels towards him. He put a paw out to stop Shockpaw from bowling him over. Fallenstar sighed and looked at Ashcloud dissappointedly, as if to say, This is how you train your apprentice? Fallenstar perked up again as he spoke. Listen to your mentor, Shockpaw. We can't dally on like this all day, can we? Chop chop! Fallenstar padded over to Ashloud and leaned closer, whispering, It's alright. He'll turn out all right with you as his mentor. Fallenstar flashed the warrior an encouraging smile before padding over to the fresh-kill pile to survey what was left for the rambunctious apprentice and his embarrassed mentor. There was enough for both of them, that was for sure, but they migth have to share or go hunting later to restock it up.

Ashcloud was deeply embarrassed for his apprentice. He winced just at the thought of the almost collision. His shoulders tensed as shockpaw seemed to simply let it roll off him. Ashcloud wondered, irritated, if he ever bothered to worry about anything. His shoulders slumped from their knotted pose and he gave a thin smile back. His apprentice was his first, and he certainly didn't want to waste this opportunity. If shockpaw could not live up to his standards, well, something drastic had to be done.
Pausing, Ashcloud thought long and hard. He was concerned for Shockpaw's afternoon performance, and suddenly, Ashcloud felt a pang of guilt for not putting his all into his young charge. The guilt was soon overridden by the strong dislike of the apprentice. He was just so clumsy. Following Fallenstar out of he warriors den, Ashcloud peered at the sun for a short moment. His eyes were narrowed, and his fur fluffed out against the dew that had collected on the ends of his fine hairs. He gave almost an amusing appearance, but his expression was less than humorous. Glancing at the fresh-kill pile, he calculated that both he and apprentice would have enough to eat, but they would have to hunt later on. With an internal groan, he recollected the last hunting excursion, when Shockpaws clumsiness scared everything from here to where the sun slept. They had come back empty pawed, with lame excuses. Hoping greatly that Shockpaw could keep a restraint on himself, he decided to talk to him about trying his absolute best. Pep talks usually worked with other apprentices, he had seen. A little "you can do it" and "I believe in you" and they ended up doing brilliantly.
